Organizes A Clean-Up Program for Sta. Rita River
The river clean-up program was held last November 30, 2009. Subicwater’s Community and Media Relations Supervisor, Yolly T. Riva met the group of around 30 people at Sta Rita Barangay Hall at 9:00 a.m.. After a short briefing about the activity, the group of cleaners, armed with their cleaning paraphernalia such as bolos, rake, garbage bags and broom sticks headed to the kick off site at the foot of Sta Rita bridge near Olongapo Memorial Park. The team trod the river and cleared it from garbage and waste materials and ended their “clean-up journey” at Sta Rita Pumping Station.
Subicwater commended Barangay Sta Rita for being a partner in facilitating the clean-up program. Kuddos also to the people who braved the hot rays of the sun, unmindful of the kind of waste and garbage they chanced upon in clearing the river.
Brgy. Captain Bacay, likewise, expressed his appreciation to Subicwater as an advocate for environmental protection and water source conservation. He mentioned that the river clean-up activity was one of their winning points for the contest “Clean and Green” sponsored by the City Government.
As part of its advocacy for the protection and preservation of the environment and the surrounding bodies of water, Subicwater spearheaded a clean-up program for Sta Rita river.
The activity was tied-up with Barangay Sta. Rita through its barangay captain, Engr. Jerome Michael Bacay who volunteered the selected manpower of the barangay, composed of the teams of Sta Rita Street Cleaners, Fire Brigade Team and Barangay Purok Leaders.
