A seasoned management expert on enterprise risk management, systems auditing, business processes re-engineering, and information technology is SUBICWATER’s new chief executive officer.
He is no other than Benjamin “Bubong” Antonio III, who served as Subic Bay Metropolitan Authority’s (SBMA) representative to the SUBICWATER Board for three years up to 2016, being an SBMA Board member from years 2011 to 2016.
Antonio’s appointment was officially made public on April 11 when the company held a general assembly. Some of the pressing concerns that now fall under his shoulders include securing the medium to long-term water supply requirements of Olongapo City and Subic Bay Freeport, expanding the distribution system to service the few remaining upland communities in the city, and streamlining the company’s business processes by taking inspiration from the industry’s best practices.
IT Backbone
Antonio’s 25-year professional career took solid foundation on his fascination with technology, having taken crucial roles in Philippine companies that pioneered in e-Commerce.
He was instrumental in setting up San Miguel Corporation’s first online store, Johnson and Johnson’s B2B (business-to-business) system, BlackBerry’s first Enterprise support group, among other similar projects.
Antonio also led the team that implemented the large-scale enterprise mobile automation for the Bureau of Internal Revenue (BIR) — a first in the Asia-Pacific region.
Track Record in Private and Public Sector
Antonio has a keen eye for identifying organizational strengths and weaknesses and formulating programs for continual improvement, as he specializes on various management systems related to Information Technology and Security, Quality, Business Continuity, and Environment, to name a few.
He has served as consultant for companies in the Philippines, Malaysia, Singapore, Vietnam, India, and Thailand which were engaged in manufacturing, telecommunications, BPO, transportation, and other industries. Antonio has also worked for government agencies such as the SBMA, BIR, Department of Trade and Industry (DTI), Bureau of Customs (BOC), Philippine Textile Research Institute (PTRI), Philippine Export Zone Authority (PEZA), Coconut Industry Investment Fund (CIIF), Philippine National Police (PNP), and even for the Office of the President (OP).
Education and Interests
Antonio, who graduated Cum Laude in his BS Science degree, also holds an MBA from the International Academy of Management and Economics. He also studied Chemistry at the University of Santo Tomas and Music at the University of the Philippines.
He is an active member of civic organizations such as the National Economic Protectionism Association, the Scottish Rite, Couples For Christ and Subic Quality Club. In his spare time, the new SUBICWATER CEO finds joy in hiking, practical shooting, martial arts, and reading.
